The Maryland Rush 2011G team had a BIG week this summer, as they traveled to Port St. Lucie, Florida for RushFest 2023. Although there were some nerves upon arrival, the girls quickly immersed into the rush spirit and never looked back! On Day 1, the girls met up with two players from Hawaii Rush who became a part of the squad for the week. The Marylanders started off strong in their first match of the week with a 3-0 win against Louisiana Krewe Rush. In the afternoon, the girls were tasked with showing off their dribbling skills in a rush rendition of street soccer.
Day 2 was another one for the books, as the girls finally got to debut their 23/24 season "hot pink" kits! On the field, the girls battled against a strong PA/Wisconsin Rush squad to a scoreless draw. This day also happened to be July 11th, which meant it was necessary for everyone to stop by the local 7/11 for a free slurpie!
Day 3 was a well-deserved off day. With no soccer on the agenda and the ocean only a few miles down the road, what could be more fun than a team surf lesson!
The vibes were still positive going into Day 4! The girls started off the day with another hard-fought match against Idaho Rush. After being in the sun and heat all week, the team was excited to spend the afternoon indoors at the RushFest Closing Ceremonies, where they showed their rush spirit in multiple cheer and dance battles. Although we may be biased, the Maryland girls were definitely in contention to win the "Most Spirited" award! Another fan favorite was the gear swap, where the players from all the rush clubs trade club merch with one another.
Overall, RushFest 2023 was a smashing success! The Maryland Rush 11G team had an exciting, soccer-filled week and came back to Annapolis pumped for the 23/24 season to begin. New skills were learned and many new friends were made from all over the country!
