Congratulations to Cameron Terhune (2010G), Rory Terhune (2011G), Anna Kort (2011G) and Gianna Principi (2011G) on being selected to represent Maryland Rush at the 2023 International Rush Cup with Rush Select!
Cameron Terhune, goalkeeper for the Rush Select 2010G Midwest team, started off the weekend with a 3-3 draw against Rush Select Northeast and a dominant 7-1 win against Inter Stars Rush. Advancing out of group play, the Midwest team faced the Northeast team again in the semifinals. This time, however, the Northeast team came out on top with a 2-0 win, knocking the Midwest team out of championship contention.
Rory Terhune, Anna Kort and Gianna Principi were all named to the Rush Select 2011G Northeast team. Rory and Anna dominated the midfield, while Gianna was a force to be reckoned with in the forward line. The girls started off the weekend strong, with a 2-1 win against Rush Select Midwest on Friday. On Day 2, the girls posted a 0-0 draw against Rush Select South and a convincing 4-0 win against Rush Select West. Going undefeated in group play, the Northeast girls advanced directly to the finals on Sunday morning. In the Championship match, the Northeast girls faced a tough Rush Select South squad. Early in the match, Rory Terhune found the back of the net to give the Northeast a 1-0 lead. Not long after, Anna Kort recorded an assist, which put the Northeast up by 2. The Rush Select South team would not be able to make a comeback, allowing the Northeast girls to take the victory.
