Rush 2012G Win Columbia Fall Classic Tournament

November 19, 2023.  Covenant Park, Columbia, MD. Congratulation to Maryland Rush 2012 Girls on winning the top flight in their age group at the 2023 Columbia Fall Classic Tournament!

The girls had a tough opening day, starting with a 1-1 draw against Baltimore Union SC Select 12G, and then with a 0-2 loss against Catonsville Soccer Cobras Gold.

On Sunday afternoon, the girls faced off against a tough Baltimore Bays Crush Premier 12G squad. Knowing they needed a win to advance to the finals, the girls came out on fire. The Rush took an early lead in the first half when Brooke W. Made a strong tackle in the center and found the feet of Brooklyn B., who chipped the ball behind the Crush's backline. Siena V. read the play well and was there to finish it. Not long later, Brooklyn connected once again with Siena, who dribbled the keeper and slotted home the game winner. Maddie Q., Isla B. and Morgan S.  dominated in the midfield. Goalkeeper's Quinn S. and Zoey E. earned the shutout.

Final Score: Maryland Rush 2 - 0 Baltimore Bays Crush. 

The championship game proved to be a thriller, as the Rush faced the same Catonsville SC Cobras Gold team they fell to the day before. Late in the first half, a long clearance from Grace J. found the feet of Siena V., who found the back of the net. Early in the second half, Annetta P. came close to knocking in another one on a volley off a corner kick, however, the ball went just wide. A few minutes later, Ella B. was on the dribble down the right sideline and slotted a through ball to Siena V. Brooklyn B. made a great run to the back post and was there to tap in the cross from Siena. Stong defensive performaces from Georgia H., Chloe V. and Grace J. secured the win. 

Final Score: Maryland Rush 2 - 0 Catonsville SC Cobras Gold.
