MD Rush - DCFA Announce Partnership

August 4, 2022. Annapolis, MD.  Maryland Rush is excited to announce that Maryland Rush and the Denison Cabral Futsal Academy (DCFA) have entered into a partnership in which DFCA will run a futsal academy program for Maryland Rush in the Annapolis area.  DCFA, based in Millersville, MD, brings a long history of highly competitive futsal training with its compiling multiple futsal national championships.

Maryland Rush sees this new partnership as a natural progression from the very successful Rush futsal program last winter that included 7-9 futsal training session and league play, plus tournaments for some teams. The new Rush Futsal Academy program will include DCFA-run competitive futsal training in Annapolis from mid-October thru mid-March that will complement the Maryland Rush outdoor soccer programs along with futsal league or tournament play during the winter.

Maryland Rush Technical Director Steve Senna said “Last year we saw substantial improvement in our players’ technical skills through their winter futsal training. This new program will provide our Rush players with the highest levels of futsal training over a longer period of time, which we believe will take their games to a significantly higher level.”

Rush Soccer’s National Technical Director, Pablo Toledo, shares the club’s excitement about the new partnership, saying "I celebrate this initiative that Maryland Rush has to incorporate more futsal in its programming. I have a strong belief, based on observation and comparison as a foreign national, that America's missing piece to compete at the highest level of world soccer is to incorporate more of these hours in player development, especially in grassroot stages. I do not think the difference between the USA and the main powerhouses of the world relies on tactics, maybe not even on technical capacity, but on skills and creativity, and these two come from the countless hours spent playing in opposing environments as a child. What might happen spontaneously in those powerhouses, futsal programs replicate artificially. I have no doubts that the fruits of this investment will be clearly seen in a few years in Maryland. I applaud the club and its leadership for their vision and forward thinking."

Chris Rue, Rush Soccer's National Futsal Director described the club's excitement about the new partnership: "I am excited to hear about the partnership between Maryland Rush and DCFA.  Futsal is becoming more mainstream as players begin to realize the positive effects it has on their game and are seeking clubs who are offering it.  With smaller playing areas, there is no hiding in Futsal.  Concentration, anticipation, and deception are keys to Futsal success.  There are more touches and decision making going on in a 15 to 20 minute time span that you simply won't get on a big field.  This fast paced, fun environment hyper develops players.  Maryland Rush is showing great foresight and leadership with this partnership and will no doubt see the benefits shortly."

Maryland Rush President Tim DeWitt said “DCFA has a history of producing hyper-talented futsal teams and players. We are very excited to bring this extraordinary opportunity to our Maryland Rush players to have that high-level training available to them.”

Details on the timing, registration and cost of the new program will be released to Maryland Rush players in the next few weeks.
