The Maryland Rush Rush 2008 Girls had a fantastic and memorable weekend at the Columbia Fall Classic Girls Weekend over November 20 - 21, 2021 in Howard County as they won their flight Championship over the weekend.

On Saturday, November 20th, the girls opened their tournament with a solid 2-0 win over World Class Premier at Howard High School's turf field in the stadium.

Saturday evening, in their second game, the would have to fight back after being down 0-1, very late in the game, the team scored with less than one minute remaining in the game to salvage an all important 1-1 draw with Vienna Youth Soccer Black (Virginia), keeping them alive to possibly win their group on Sunday.

Sunday morning, November 21st, all 4 games from both groups would kick-off at the same time (11:45am) to determine which team from the 4 teams in each group, would play in the Championship game.

The Maryland Rush 2008 Girls defeated Severna Park 08G White by a score of 2-0 to win their group and advance to the Championship Game against the other group winner, Mountain District Union Union (PA West).

The final was pretty epic. The girls would once again have to come from behind by a score of 0-1 at halftime after committing a foul just outside the top of the box, center of goal, which Mountain District Union made good with and took a 1-0 lead into the half.

The Maryland Rush girls would storm back in the second half, scoring and leveling the game at 1-1, which was the only goal allowed all weekend by the Mountain Union District team.

The game would end even at 1-1 and went directly into penalty kicks, which the girls would end up taking on penalties by a 4-2 margin, with goalkeeper Sophie Fedorchak saving 2 penalties and 4 of the 5 kickers making their kicks.

Congratulations to each and every girl on the 2008 Girls team for their Championship, their first under coach Steve Senna. Well Done ladies, Maryland Rush is very proud of you!
