MD Rush Alum College Wrap-up

March 5, 2021. Bowie, MD.  The first week of the spring 2021 women's college soccer season opened with some Maryland Rush alumni.

The NCAA D1 Northeast Conference matchup between St. Francis College Brooklyn and Merrimack women's soccer match, featured former MD Rush 2000 girls teammates Sarah DeWitt (St. Francis College)  and Molly Murnane (Merrimack College) faced off in their Northeast Conference opener on March 2nd.  Merrimack opened the scoring midway through the first half to go ahead 1-0.  As the end of the first half approached DeWitt equalized with a PK.  In the second half the St. Francis Terriers converted twice to win the match 3-1.  Throughout the game Murnane battled valiantly against DeWitt's Terrier teammate and Hawaii Rush alum Mia Rose Daly.  DeWitt logged 90 minutes at holding midfield for the Terriers tallying three shots on goal and one goal.  Murnane logged 73 minutes at wing forward for the Warriors and logged two shots on goal.

In NCAA D3 action, MD Rush alum Laney Placido led the Marymount (MD) Saints to a 1-0 season-opening victory over the St. Mary's College (MD).  Placido scored the game winner  with a curling free kick from 25 yards out.
