Rush Way Culture & OutREACH at Puerto Rico Rush

Oregon Rush’s U17 boys team traveled to Puerto Rico and played in front of more than 200 fans in the local stadium yesterday, January 24th.  Technical Director of Oregon, Don Emerson, commented about the match up, "We have a good team, but Puerto Rico was just as good. I was so pleased to set this up for our players and families."

Rush Soccer has been expanding globally at a swift pace over the last several months under the leadership of Tiago Calvano, Director of International Affairs.  Calvano expanded Rush Soccer’s presence in Puerto Rico earlier this year, with the purpose of sharing the Rush culture with new clubs abroad who can benefit from being part of the largest youth soccer club in the world.  The expansion has simultaneously created new avenues for existing clubs to experience other cultures abroad as players relate to one another through soccer and the Rush Way culture.

Calvano, who oversees 43 international clubs including this U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico, explains his excitement about the connections being formed: "It’s great to see our domestic partners taking advantage of this new relationship… We have some good things planned with Puerto Rico Rush in the months ahead."

Rush Soccer's Humanitarian Program, REACH (Rush Equipment Assisting CHildren) is planning a trip to Puerto Rico Rush this upcoming July 17-25, 2019 with several OutREACH Players. If you are a U14 or older Rush player interested in taking part in a 9-day experience starting at Rush Fest in Colorado Springs before departing to Puerto Rico for action packed days of distributing donated soccer gear, playing soccer, and site seeing, contact Kris Downs at [email protected].
