U18 Maryland State Champions

Maryland Rush Nike Premier 92’s (coached by Bob Thomas) defeated Bethesda Internationals 2-1 on Saturday, May 21st, to capture the MYSYA U18 boy’s State Cup Championship.  Rush Premier provided another stellar comeback as they were trailing 1-0 on a controversial goal in the 55th minute of play when Tyler Hall (CCBC) secured the ball with one hand but somehow the opposing team kicked it out of his hand and into the back of the net for the first goal of the game.  Although, Premier dominates most of the scoring opportunities and created majority of the play, it was Bethesda who scored first.  However, after switching formations and a few subs, Brian Dingle (Millersville) got Rush Premier on the board with a beautiful header in the 68th minute then Lester Hayes (UC Irvine) was taken down in the box with minutes remaining.  Enter Josh Schwartz (UMASS) who converted the PK and gave Rush the lead and the Championship!  Up next:  Regional’s in Lancaster, PA.
